File Guidelines
To produce amazing quality digital prints, we need high quality artwork. To assist in this process, please see below our guidelines for file setup and artwork specifications.
DOCUMENT SIZE
Check that the file is set to the same size which is nominated on your quotation.
TEMPLATES
Refer to our templates page for product specific file set up requirements and guidelines.
IMAGERY
All images should be 100dpi at final size however if setting up your files at a scale please ensure that the dpi is adjusted accordingly
to ensure the best possible print quality of any imagery being produced see below as reference for the required dpi at different
artwork scales:
File size at 100% = 100dpi
File size at 50% = 200dpi
File size at 25% = 400dpi
File size at 10% = 1000dpi
The better quality the imagery the better print result we can achieve however please try to adjust your dpi accordingly, if
the dpi is set too high which makes the file sizes too large and unmanageable you will be requested to scale back the file
size so we can handle your files for file set up.
FONTS
All fonts to be converted to outlines.
COLOUR
Visualcom print in CMYK all colours within the file are to be set to CMYK with any specific required PMS colours nominated
within the file. Visualcom will strive to produce the best possible print result by colour matching the PMS colour to a CMYK
breakdown however this must be nominated within the file or flagged at time of your order. Colour matching or test print
charges may apply.
BLEED & VISUAL AREA
All artwork requires 10mm bleed, keep critical logos and text away from edges (10mm preferred) and if any materials
require eyeleting keep a 25mm clear space to all edges as your text or logos will be cut off if kept within these exclusion
areas.
FILE TYPE
PDF – Exported from an Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop file.
EPS or AI – Suitable for any elements which require die cutting, router cutting or vinyl cut lettering only.
Visualcom do not accept Microsoft Word, Publisher, Powerpoint, DFX or Corel Draw.
SCALE
Most programs especially Indesign and Illustrator have limitations to setting up your print files at 100% when working
with a large size please work in a scaled document size which scales accordingly. See below examples to assist with this
process, 10% of the final size is the most suitable to work with:
Overall print size required: 10,000mm x 2,000mm
File Size at 50% 5,000mm x 1,000mm with imagery at 200 DPI
File Size at 10% 1,000mm x 200mm with imagery at 1000DPI
